About

The creative process behind artistic endeavor requires the same discipline, depth of study, and integrative thinking that scientists utilize on a daily basis. Likewise, great discoveries in science rely on a departure from traditional ways of describing one’s surroundings and imaginative sensibility – strategies often used by artists. Indeed, the goals of art and science are well aligned: to investigate, and make sense of, the human condition.

Just as Einstein and Picasso made concurrent discoveries in their respective fields calling into question our sensory interpretation of reality, we are now at the cusp of movements and discoveries that will shape our future. Just as Gustav Klimt and Egon Schiele plunged the depths of the self as described by Sigmund Freud new theories in psychiatry; in our time, recent breakthroughs in neuroscience and genetics are promise to similarly impact culture.

Artus is born out of the belief that an impact on culture can be precipitated through collaborative efforts between scientists and artists. With this goal in mind, Artus aims to provide a platform for artists and scientists to communicate.  Fundamentally Artus is a tool for artists. A way for artists to reach out to the vast scientific resources available in New York City and communicate directly with scientists to help navigate ideas for projects and collaborate on works. Providing like-minded people who are passionate about their works a means to explore other worlds.
